About Bonnie J. Lewis Design

Designed by an expert who understands what is ahead.

Bonnie J. Lewis’ experience designing commercial senior living and healthcare environments gives her a deep, real-world understanding of how needs change with age, and how to design for them gracefully. It is a perspective few residential designers or aging-in-place specialists can offer.

Above all, Bonnie genuinely cares about helping you live better and longer, in a home that is beautiful, comfortable, and made for the life you intend to keep living. She is trusted by Scottsdale and Phoenix physicians for their own homes.

A renovation you can retire to.

We bring highly specialized design expertise and a deep understanding of the body’s aging process, meticulously weighing the impact of every decision throughout planning and design. We eliminate obstacles and hidden hazards to help prevent debilitating falls, which is essential to longevity and wellness.

Balance begins to decline in our 50s, and falls grow more likely from there. By age 65, 1 in 4 adults fall each year, according to the CDC. Falls are costly, usually preventable, and physically, emotionally, and cognitively life-changing. They are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injury among older adults, and most happen at home, most often in the bathroom.

Bonnie J. Lewis Design will expertly design your home, or your primary bathroom, to reduce your fall risk and prepare your home to adapt to your needs as you age. We thoughtfully design for beauty, comfort, and functionality, with accessibility for mobility devices such as a walker or wheelchair, or for caregiver assistance, something you will be grateful for in the years ahead.

It is wise to prepare now, while you have the time to do it well. All too often, a move to assisted living is forced rather than chosen, because a home has no ADA bathroom or is deemed unsafe to return to after a hospital stay, surgery, or illness. According to the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies, 97% of U.S. homes are not ready for aging in place. Planning ahead keeps both the decision and your independence in your hands.

Bonnie J. Lewis Design TESTIMONIALS

Praise From Our Clients

“Bonnie Created and executed a breathtaking renovation that exceeds any spa bathroom I have ever seen anywhere in the world. She flawlessly incorportated accessibility features we did not think we would need for many years.

I came to appreciate the larger shower, which could accomodate both my husband and me as I needed help with showering after I fell during a hike, breaking my wrist within months of the remodel.”

Michelle Anderson MD

“After taking care of my mother late in life I knew first hand how hard it could be to manage aging in place with a standard bathroom. When it came time to remodel the master bath I knew I wanted it to be ADA compliant in case of possible future needs and I called Bonnie. I am very glad I did! My beautiful new bathroom does not make me think “disability” or “nursing home”the words that come to mind instead are “feminine, elegant, and serene.” It makes me happy every day.”
